The excitement of learning and achieving
You know that feeling when somebody asks you to do something you have never done before? Sometimes when we are faced with a new challenge, it can go one of two ways: it can either become a paralysing roadblock or a thrilling gateway to new possibilities.
My experience when asked to spearhead the redesign of the Sonnet Advisory and Impact website, along with my colleague Roshni, thankfully, was the latter. This was not just an opportunity for me to learn, but a chance to align Sonnet’s online presence with our core values: asking questions, reflecting, listening, and adopting fresh thinking.
I saw it as an exciting challenge to capture the essence of Sonnet in our digital space. I now like to entertain the notion that I can do everything a website designer would do (which would very obviously be a massive disservice to website designers!).
The mindset
We approached the project with the same mindset we bring to our client work. Simplifying things, we identified our audiences and their needs. Our main goal was to showcase the breadth of our work in a clear and engaging way. This task mirrored our day-to-day work of listening, asking questions, understanding complex situations and effectively communicating them.
Working alongside the talented Jump team, we achieved our objective. The redesign and relaunch of our website is a great example of why I enjoy working at Sonnet (and why I continue to stay on even after 8 years). It’s an environment that encourages growth, the expansion of skills, and the pursuit of personal interests that contribute to the company’s success.
One of the reasons I remain a keen footballer is because of the way that the team is driving toward the same end goal. Being part of Sonnet provides me with a similar sense of fulfillment to that which I get from playing football—minus the injuries. Our work focuses on creating positive impact and improving society. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to make a significant contribution.
The essence of the Sonnet culture
At Sonnet, I thrive on learning new skills and gaining insights from all of the different perspectives that we come across in our conversations. Our work constantly introduces us to innovative approaches and challenges us to apply previous knowledge in fresh contexts. Collaborating closely together with our clients contributes to this. They are experts in their fields, which offers me abundant learning opportunities.
The redesign and relaunch of our website exemplifies the essence of Sonnet’s culture—continual growth, collaborative learning, and the pursuit of positive impact. This is something that I hope I can continue to be a part of for a long time to come.
