Once in a while, the team at Sonnet likes to take a step back and focuses on something a little more lighthearted. ‘Bring your dog to work day’ was firmly on our radar, as we are (mostly) a team of dog-lovers. However, celebrating this day as a team has became a slightly trickier affair than at first envisaged, for a number of reasons:
- Our serviced office does not allow dogs on the premises
- Even if they did, Jim’s dogs are far too big to cart into the office (even if he wanted to attempt this)
- We have people in our team with other pets who also want to participate
So, we created our own day – fit for celebrating the end of the first part of the year, and start of the second.
We call it ‘bring your pet to your working-from-home day’
Studies show that there are lots of physical and mental health benefits to having a pet at work, such as lowering blood pressure and reducing stress and anxiety. Whether you’re home based or an office worker, animals can bring a smile to your face on the most stressful of days.
Below we showcase some of the wonderful pets who are part of the Sonnet team. They keep us company during our working days, contribute positively to our health and well-being and are often the subject of conversation at some point, during our daily team meetings. Meet the support team:
Albie
Albie is a Cockerpoo. If ever we need a bit of support brainstorming idea, Albie is great help with this. Although,as you can see, he is an old school paper notebook kind of guy. He tends to fall asleep on the keypad when faced with a laptop!
Layla
Layla is a boxer, who is currently being dog-sat. She is always very keen to ensure that work-life balance is maintained. Log wrestling is an optional extra!
Buffy
Buffy is a common old moggy, and you guessed it, named after Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If she had opposable thumbs she would rule the world. She’s very, very clever.
Kenny
Kenny is Buffy’s brother. He’s very sweet but not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Pom-Pom
Pom is an inquisitive Maltichon who is ball obsessed. She loves to sit up high gazing out of windows. That stare would guilt trip even the hardest of hearts, into playing fetch outside.
Purdy
Purdy is 60kg of cuddly Newfoundland or ‘Newfie’, for short. She is aware that you should not sit still for the whole day when working from home. Here, she enjoyed the garden so much when she went for some exercise, that she brought a fair amount of it with her.
Timmy
Timmy is a Cockerpoo and the youngest member of the support team. Here he assumes his normal working day position under the table. Look at him go!
Do you have any pets which keep you company (and entertained) during the working day? We would love to see them and hear your stories about them – feel free to share these on our social media feeds.
